B3 Conference
About the conference
The B3 Conference 2023 is being held in conjunction with the International Congress on Biological Invasions (IBCI2023) (1-4 May 2023) at the Christchurch Town Hall.
Better Border Biosecurity (B3) is a multi-partner, science collaboration that researches ways to reduce the entry and establishment of invasive plant pests, pathogens and weeds in New Zealand. B3 brings together science organisations such as Crown Research Institutes and universities with government, industry groups, iwi and community groups. B3 undertakes strategic research that underpins government and industry operational activities and targets organisms and techniques that will impact multiple sectors.
The B3 Conference will take place on one day (Friday 5 May 2023) as B3 researchers are being encouraged to participate and present at ICBI2023.
The shortened B3 Conference 2023 will target the broader biosecurity community and will include updates from government, industry, iwi and other B3 partners:
• Creating a New Zealand biosecurity strategy
• Updates from B3
• Updates from government
• Updates from industry
• Updates from iwi
• Updates from MOU partners
We particularly welcome our colleagues from our MOU partners: Plant Biosecurity Research Initiative (PBRI), the Centre of Excellence for Biosecurity Risk Analysis (CEBRA) and University of Canterbury Biosecurity Innovations (UCBI).
Past attendees of the B3 Conference are more than welcome to attend ICBI2023 and the B3 Conference should be of interest to anyone attending ICBI2023.
